Parents guide
Kingdom Island is a free virtual world where kids play as cartoon dragons and explore an island. Here is exactly how accounts, chat and the island's characters work.
How Kingdom Island keeps kids safe
When a child under 13 signs up
- A dragon name
They pick a made-up dragon name and a password, then enter their birth month and year.
- We email you
The email names their dragon, explains Kingdom Island and Safe Chat, and has a button to review the account.
- You decide
Approve it, or decline it. Declining deletes the account and everything saved with it.
- Safe Chat meanwhile
They can play with Safe Chat while the email waits for you.
- Password resets
If they forget their password, the reset link comes to your email, and it works once within an hour.
Some Safe Chat phrases
Players under 13 chat by picking from a list like this:
Hi! Want to be friends? Cool outfit! Let's go to the beach! Race you! See you later!
Tell your child before they play
- Never tell anyone your real name, address, school, phone number or password.
- If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, leave the room and tell a grown-up.
- Be kind, no dating, and follow the rules.
Questions parents ask
Can my child under 13 type messages if I allow it?
No. Safe Chat is on for every player under 13 and parents can't switch it off. Once your child turns 13 they can type, and their messages are checked by our chat filter.
I didn't get the approval email
Check your spam folder for an email from Kingdom Island. If it isn't there, contact support with your child's dragon name.
How do I delete my child's account?
Open the review button in the approval email and decline the account, which deletes it and everything saved in it straight away. If you no longer have the email, contact support.
Who can see my child in the game?
Other dragons in the same room can see your child's dragon, as in any shared game. The players your child follows, and the players who follow your child, can see when your child is online and which room they're in. Anyone can follow a player without asking first. Your child can remove a follower or block a player at any time: a blocked player can't follow your child, see them in a room or chat with them, and is never told who blocked them. Nothing about where your child is in real life is shown.
