Top of the Volcano

When inside the volcano, there isn't as much lava as you'd think there'd be. I was wondering if maybe we could either go to the CENTER of the Volcano, or to the top. Here's a quick pic I drew of what the top could look like. (Made this fast, didn't really put much detail. Even though it's bad, it gets the point across xD)

my understanding is that dragons are fire-proof right? so why not make give that area a few diving boards and make it a pool?
